There’s a reason Chris Watts can’t remember Bella’s Last Words

When Special Agent Grahm Coder gently prods Chris Watts about whether he’s “sure” the kids were still alive, do you notice how he answers? What does he reference?

This YouTuber is spot on in picking up the inconsistency of the so-called “last words”. While the CBI Report quotes Watts consistently repeating Bella’s last words as “Daddy, No!, the Daily Beast quotes Watts saying Bella said, “No Daddy!”

I doubt there were any last words by Bella, or any running around the house around mommy’s body, and I don’t believe the children were taken to the CERVI 319 site alive and killed there. It didn’t happen.

What did happen is worse, and it occurred before Shan’ann’s death as I’ve maintained throughout the TWO FACE series all along. The whole point of killing the children when they were, and the way they were, was to prevent what Watts once referred to as a “cry fest”. Just as Shan’ann’s murder was done to ward off a rowdy confrontation in the early hours of the morning, the girls were killed silently and discreetly and behind four walls.

It’s interesting how in the first confession Watts also refers to this idea of “doing the same thing [murdering in the same way] to her [to a second person]”. In the Second Confession it swings from the first version of murdering Shan’ann the same way she murdered the kids to murdering Bella the same way he murdered her sister and/or Shan’ann.

Unfortunately in the actual report of the discovery file, McKenna isn’t quoted talking about babysitting Bella, and Bella’s distress at being unable to sleep, and “what if Ceecee doesn’t wake up”. It is nevertheless recorded in the audio interview.

I will be spending a lot of time deciphering these details and the overarching psychology of the Second Confession, as well as providing brand new insights, in TWO FACE ANNIHILATION, the seventh book in the series available in April 2019.

I was thinking about it and I believe that he did his usual trick of transposing words from other situations when he described Shan’ann as saying “you will never see the kids again” as her last words. I think that she said that to Chris’s mom, and he transposed her words from that situation as a way to come up with what could be something she said during her “argument.” He even mentioned that she had said that before. I don’t believe he meant she had said it to him. He was definitely angry that she would say something like that to his parents, especially his dad.

I just realized that each time Watts refers to a “video” of the kids being alive in the truck, he is talking about that ridiculous AD “shadow” video. That’s all he means. When Tammy asks what might have made him tell the truth sooner, and he says if they “lied” and said there was video of the girls alive, that’s the only video he is referring to. Someone from the outside told him about it, and for some reason, he latched onto it. As I’ve stated before, the only rationale I can come up with is that he thinks it makes this look less like a planned series of events, and more like rage and its aftermath, even though driving 45 minutes to Cervi with two living children makes him look worse. He has very little self-awareness.

He knows there exists no definitive video of the girls riding in the truck. I cannot wait to read Annihilation, to get this nasty taste of bullshit out of my head.

Have you read the Mysterious Mistress?

      • Laura Thompson

Not yet, ordering that one Tuesday. I’m doing my second, more intensive read through of Drilling. What I like to do is quickly do a first read to get the jist, or more accurately, the big picture, and then read again as many times as necessary to absorb the finer points and details. Click on links, etc.

    • Able

In your insistence to have and justify an alternative view, you ignore some fairly conclusive evidence. Can you guess what that is? I’ll give you a hint. It’s video evidence.

      • nickvdl

Me, the FBI, the CBI, and the officers most closely associated with investigating this case, yes. You and…?

  3. CBH

Chris lacks self-awareness, but so do the investigators, as they’ve allowed him to spin a false narrative from the shadows in the driveway theory, and it’s only served to make family and the public feel the crime was even worse than previously imagined.

Also, as I predicted on March 7 would be the case, this new confession has done nothing to help Nichol Kessinger, as the YouTube crowd is still busy naming her as an accomplice and accessory to murder, and finding new shadows to support that theory, and calling for petitions to be sent to CBI and FBI demanding her arrest! So what, really, was accomplished?🤔

    • mitzi2006

What was accomplished is watts sucked them down another bull shit rabbit hole. He probably can’t believe himself they bought it, neither can I. I would bet his mom or dad or sister shared that shadow stuff with him. It makes no sense that he’d risk taking them outside with a dead mom especially being how Bella got after Shan’ann had been away but she just waltzed in and said what’s wrong with mommy? Right. Did these investigators not listen to witnesses who told them how they got if mommy was away? And this scenario made sense to them? Did Chris look on that video like he was in a state of panic? They seem to put a lot of faith in how many steps he took after killing her as some evidence of panic, it was actually evidence of having way less amount of time for the cover up. His reply to why he opened the Lexus door as well, can’t remember but thinks it was to look at the car seats as Nichole had mentioned them. You can clearly see him bend down to the passenger floor, that’s looking at the car seats? But yet they didn’t challenge him. If you lie about some things you are likely lying about other things but not where these investigators see it. His whole spiel was to take out premeditation, that was his goal

      • CBH

I agree that was his goal. And the investigators did not drill him enough, did not demand he respond fully and in detail. They led him in many ways.

      • Jade

The second tale that Chris Watts told investigators was just that another tale. CW is a narcissist and his ego prevents him from being self-aware. I felt like CW was trying to garner sympathy and take out the premeditation factor probably in hopes to win an appeal later because this is how he thinks; it’s all about himself. I don’t believe, not even for a second, that CW feels any remorse and only wishes he had planned it better to have gotten away with it. I also think he was not anticipating NK throwing him under the bus. Most likely the kids weren’t alive and he drove them all to the site deceased. His plan was already in motion when he texted that co-worker about driving out to the site early hence premeditation. He was right when he said it was going to happen and nothing could stop him because he thought about it for a long time. The investigators are tools and really came off inexperienced in that they kept buying his BS. When Nicole Atkinson called the Police initially and CW finally, casually shows up. the slowed down video shows that he tucks something under his arm and when he goes to the Lexus he bends over to look at the floor. Whoever he was texting or talking to with that morning reminded him of something in the Lexus. The investigators did such a poor job with the initial investigation, with many missed opportunities, and searching both the Lexus and truck properly. Then CW cleaned the entire house and bedrooms so there’s that; clearing out evidence.

    • nickvdl

I think you can give the investigators more credit than they apparently give themselves.

      • CBH

How so? Why, and in what sense?

    • Sheis

I really wonder about those investigators. They must have training and must be good at their jobs, but I (also) don’t see what they accomplished. To me, Chris is the ultimate people-pleaser and will say whatever he thinks authority figures want to hear. That’s how we got the whole “Shanann killed the girls” nonsense.

I don’t know that we will ever get the truth of what happened that night/morning.

      • CBH

You’re right, he’s a people pleaser. It’s frustrating, because the agents do have the skill to interrogate him but seemed to allow him to simply spin a yarn from the shadow video.

    • Pete Cowell

Some sad and bored people like to make up stories about NK having more to do with the killing of his wife and children than she did. Even though she had been investigated and helped to get away from the threats online.
It’s as if some people want to try to take away the blame from Chris to a woman, even though he’s a grown man of normal intelligence who should have been able to make his own decisions.

  4. Sylvester

There’s a reason he can’t remember Bella’s last words because she didn’t have any. But “the same thing” is said over and over. In his original confession the children haven’t said anything, because they were both blue before he could get to them. Now it’s “the same thing” again – so if they didn’t say anything then neither did Sha’nann and that would be the same thing. Silent, soft kills. No last words.

    • nickvdl

Bella may have expressed fear about the nut aspect – “Could the same thing happen to me Daddy?” And each time she said it Watts probably felt pissed off that Shan’ann had planted the seed in her head in the first place.

    • Sarah

      How do you know this?

  5. Sylvester

That could be – he would be collecting all disgruntlement s – to come out in some form or another in his murder scenarios. “Daddy no” sounds like something out of a horror movie, maybe one he had watched. Also in his scenarios no one puts up a fight “because he lost it so much.” Even Bella took no effort to be crammed down into an 8″ opening, when Lee asks him him if it was hard getting her in there he says “not really.” so this was all easy peasy, up until now, when words have been added for dramatic effect.

I watched that damn Truck loading video a hundred times… then I finally saw it.
Yes, Bella and Cece were alive when he loaded the truck. I could not believe my eyes!
I was convinced he killed the girls in the privacy of the home.. until I saw the distinct small shadow moving towards him as he reached down and picked her up… they were alive!

    • nickvdl

If you listen carefully you can also hear them talking in the video.

      • Ralph Oscar

Barney the Purple Dinosaur is also there, I understand.

        • thetinytech2018

I heard it was Baby Bob, not barney Ralph! You sir, have got your facts wrong. In all seriousness, I build high end medical imaging machines and I have a pretty expensive rig set up at home. Even with video enhancing software I still couldn’t find any trace of what that libelous AD youtuber said was on the video. If he could see it with his cheap set up, surely with everything enhanced and zoomed in I’d be able to see what he did on my expensive setup. All I saw however, was someone so desperate for views, clout and adsense money that they were turning these heinous killings into a side-show for profit. Yet Nick is the bad one here because he treats the victims like the actual people they were? Because he picks no sides and instead shows the victims and the perpetrator as they were in life? Because he dares to tell the truth instead of some chomped up narrative where Chris is the “monster” and Shanann was of sound mind, instead of delusional as she came across? Because he reminds us that the children were the only innocent victims and that everyone in life has agency over their actions? Sorry, but I don’t agree.

I think it’s extremely bias that people come here shooting off their mouth and making unfounded claims, yet they’ll go to the Arm Chair Detectives youtube page littered with ads and Patreon links and misinformation and eat it up. They’ll praise him for seeing monsters that clearly aren’t there and prop up his unfounded ego because it confirms what they sooo desperately believe. That Chris Watts was always a monster and just “snapped”. They’ll feed into the sensationalism and take his opinions mascarading as facts, because it reinforces what they already thought. They never wanted to learn the facts in the first place, they just wanted confirmation that they were right so their ego doesn’t get bruised. Just like when someone here dares to suggest that NK wasn’t at the scene of the murders, the ignorant masses come out and declare that the poster must be NK or a friend of hers. It’s all so ridiculous.

In their ignorance, they actually prove a point that Nick has made time and time again about confirmation bias. It’s like people that denounce modern medicine yet go to the doctors when they’re ill, only to lambast him after the visit and do what they think will cure them, even if it’s the opposite of “The doctors orders”. I see it happen often in the anti-vaxx community, especially among mothers in that community. Not only is it pointless, but it adds to the problem. Just because you have children doesn’t mean you know more than a doctor who has studied medicine for over ten years; And just because you’ve read some articles it doesn’t make you more knowledgeable than someone like Nick who has studied true crime in depth for a living.

I find it interesting and disheartening all at once, but it really made me think of the quote about humans being “creatures of habit”. I apologize for the tangent, but I felt it worthy of being mentioned.

          • thetinytech2018

First line should read “Baby Bop” (one of the characters from Barney back in the ’90s) not “Baby Bob”, my apologies. Autocorrect seems to be cruel and unforgiving today.

          • Ralph Oscar

Is it too late to switch over to a TeleTubbies reference?

          • Ralph Oscar

Nah, it was a good tangent 🙂

Dude. I know we just met but will you marry me? I’d almost l lost all hope that any logic exists anymore..
This case has brought out all the armchair crazies. It’s flabbergasting.

Watts is NOTHING if not a total and complete lyer. When I heard his “confession”, I believed very little of it…..and I was amazed that Shan’s family seemingly believed what that man said. The DA made a comment that he believed what Watts said to be the truth. Why don’t I believe him? As all of you have studied this case, it’s been bloody clear that this was totally premeditated. Watts called his fellow workmates in an unusual fashion the night before, and made arrangements to be out at a worksite on his own very early…..not what he typically would do. His statements that he had no idea he was going to do what he did, that he was just acting robotically as if he was led to do those things…..pissed me off immediately. We’ll never know the truth other than deduction, but it’s clear to me as well that ALL of the murders were behind closed doors, and carefully planned and plotted (dumb as it may be).

    • Pamela

I believe the girls were murdered before their mother got home and put in the basement, ready for loading into the truck. He then strangled his wife. No rage, cold and calculating. Then arranged the house, hid his his wife’s ring in her car. Mustn’t bury that.
Loaded his truck with his dead family, then drove off to dispose of them. Hoping the girls would rot in the oil and his wife buried instead as she couldn’t be put in the tanks. How police investigators can call him Chris and suck up to him is beyond me. They reassured him that he was a ‘good person’ and stroked his ego. He should have been treated harshly and been told they knew he was a pathological liar and a heinous murderer.

    • KoaKaiPan

      Absolutely.

  10. cheryl walfour

you guys really gotta watch the truck footage of him loading the truck. There are shadows. he puts the girls in the truck alive. it’s obvious by the shadows on the ground. i dismissed this too til i watched it.

    • nickvdl

it’s obvious by the shadows…>>>A little like saying I saw it clearly in the dark. The point is it’s not obvious. One little line seen once is hardly proof of anything, let alone anyone.

      • Sarah

Shadow or no shadow – how are you so sure they weren’t alive on the way to CERVI?

        • wolfiebear

Because the kids would have been moody at the least being woken up so early, cold as early in the morning and confused at their hartless dad’s strange unfriendly behaviour, let alone the smell chris said there was in the truck, those girls would have screamed to high heaven being alone with him without all of the above, he would have never risked getting stopped by police.

    • Ralph Oscar

I’ve watched it several times. There’s nothing there. Also, CW’s movements are casual – there are no random/chaotic movements like one sees with a parent who’s trying to corral a small child. The scenario that one or both girls were still alive is ludicrous.

      • JC

I agree, Ralph. For all I know it could be a beach ball that rolled out of the garage. I would want to exhaust all the possibilities before accepting the possibility it was a live human being. I would hope investigators would try to re-create the shadow situation next summer in the same driveway, with the same lighting angles, at the same time of day. Can I still hope for that?

Also, there are approximately 11 traffic lights between his home and Cervi. Two don’t have cameras and, of those that do, 6 of them are near his home before and after he crosses over interstate 25. You would think he would catch at least a couple red lights where the footage had a chance to catch some sort of movement in the back seat. However, he makes a point to say the girls were sleeping for most of the ride. How convenient, since that sounds like it could look a lot like deceased children.

Why didn’t the investigators just ask him what he knows of the internet conspiracies and theories from the letters he’s received, as well as conversations with others?

  11. Janice Derochie

I have never believed he didnt kill girls in the home, either before or after he killed his wife.Even after watching the truck loading video. It could of been fixed and who knows what with people tecnology today!I believe he killed them at home and caught Shannan of guard, maybe sleeping because he has no defence wounds. He said he thought she was praying…dont buy that. She would of fought hard.He also said he was sitting on her stomach, thats something that wouldnt happen at 15 weeks pregnant, Shanannn would of been to uncomfortable in that postion even for a few minutes.I think he just talked and when investigators bought it he continued with his web of lies

  12. caroline

Shadow looks like Dieter ran to car. Or, could be CW’s water jug rolling?
