Two Big Clues Suggesting the Little Girls Were Murdered First

Sometimes what we don’t know isn’t Rocket Science. It’s obvious. Sometimes it’s so obvious we miss it. There are two big contextual clues [besides the premeditated psychology of this crime] that strongly suggest Watts murdered his children before his wife returned home that night.

The second clue involves a throwaway remark from Nichol Kessinger, the last person Watts spoke to before killing his wife [a much under-appreciated, under-estimated and under-reported fact].

Kessinger told CBI Agent Koback that she heard a television blaring loudly in the background during her 111 minute call with him on Sunday night. Since there was no television in the basement, the television was likely the loft lounge or in the main bedroom [although he could also have been the television in the downstairs lounge].

This was very odd behavior for Watts, particularly because his children were such light sleepers. Even pulling the car out from the garage in the morning was liable to wake them up.

This suggests prior to the 21:00 call with Kessinger, the children were already dead which is also – perhaps – what allowed him to make such a long call without any threat of interruption or distraction from their waking up and needing him for any reason.

There is another even stronger indicator that the children were murdered on the 12th, and it shifts the timeline even earlier. Do you know what it is?

Although in the June 2017 timeline this image below is from September 3rd, 2016. Presumably during this period, Shan’ann’s parents were living with them for several months in Colorado. It was during this time that Sandi met and took a job working for Nickole Atkinson as a hairdresser. That’s how Shan’ann and Nickole met, through Sandi’s hairdressing job. 18446801_10154523050251935_2117522143365812760_n18485830_10154524743506935_734789507525147919_n18486297_10154533734476935_2497756100767994903_n18519551_10154534024626935_1360974470732176606_n18765934_10154579980456935_8963803286504885869_n18813354_10154571659616935_7556502813591948446_n18813574_10154588032246935_5156396501716783488_n18836930_10154584865561935_4654483182428610220_o18839222_10154588099621935_6908836805465221745_n18881809_10154587895556935_4550959708284434124_n18882081_10154571500906935_5806635218009764793_n18893298_10154595344851935_3690413503819147605_n18920164_10154583826356935_1454385732491708280_n18920253_10154588032231935_2843152078314983590_n18921900_10154594852621935_3570687320991411473_n18922195_10154578086136935_2692005662757163396_n18922200_10154603119866935_3295456617780060391_n18922216_10154587521396935_4934601135234885623_n18951200_10154593354166935_8555539619035058177_n18951209_10154594851836935_5021166226496079624_n18952524_10154605018636935_7848631725678430524_n18952571_10154603218151935_5280222749316254981_n18952856_10154598750026935_8744907578136438383_n18953068_10154606924361935_455693836185288061_n19029585_10154594907476935_9086782398261248486_n19029727_10154603119941935_7871286417305308672_n19030373_10154602065526935_7720760333142097493_n19030488_10154607476346935_7713948743567762317_n19059175_10154599730881935_7372119686494346402_n19059621_10154612337041935_4924847568206161487_n19105873_10154613151056935_6865284383711927461_n19105946_10154614912861935_1819971734180000721_n19146017_10154614912816935_7635166486432707264_n19146188_10154603119871935_8279146180158366774_n19247585_10154642017611935_7084245379700094005_n19248050_10154629113731935_8251200739955791711_n19248085_10154645967496935_520085349232113801_n19260227_10154632696181935_2309206133375362308_n19366204_10154621886231935_4850853197260025311_n19397005_10154629893566935_2876858652843933639_n19399356_10154638887996935_7739769539632628506_n19399475_10154634065596935_8935427165539562183_n19399853_10154644321311935_3592505146879620372_n19420470_10154639406911935_2545800544171006695_n19420638_10154640766786935_2548202860232453195_n19424094_10154646189666935_2375266800156931582_n19424170_10154646074976935_9077229261337819776_n19424537_10154633895646935_360334398183551242_n19430039_10154652666636935_8233951660999406396_n19430098_10154641450786935_3770972127189136851_n19510085_10154646390121935_3258642419841261185_n19510101_10154650554636935_7229678929851497214_n19511317_10154646189671935_7801068655792212157_n19554565_10154658667276935_7465522500877904660_n

Hands up – do you believe Watts and Shan’ann “talked” on the morning before she was murdered?

There is no way to definitively “prove” that a conversation did or didn’t take place early in the morning of August 13. The best we can do is look into the dynamics and see what is likely. This may seem like a weak and uncertain investigative technique, but it’s not.

While researching DRILLING FOR DISCOVERY, the 5th book in the ongoing TWO FACE series, I started cross-referencing Watts’ early statements, including to the FBI, with Shan’ann’s references to the word “talk”.

The word “talk” appears more than 350 times in the Discovery Documents, and many are requests from Shan’ann that her husband talk to her. But he doesn’t. This resistance to talking to her gains momentum towards the last days and hours of her life, and in fact one of her last minutes to him on Sunday night is:

Sorry I bothered you. I just wanted to talk to you.

Below are a few of those instances:

fullscreen capture 20190108 162153fullscreen capture 20190108 191117fullscreen capture 20190108 162200fullscreen capture 20190108 165325fullscreen capture 20190108 170430fullscreen capture 20190108 170444fullscreen capture 20190108 170504fullscreen capture 20190108 170537

Once the murders take place, Watts suddenly tells everyone he “talked” to Shan’ann. He woke her up and he talked to her. Not only did he talk to her, she went to sleep afterwards, and then – apparently – Shan’ann got emotional afterwards and disappeared in a huff.

It’s only when you know the dynamics leading up to the murders, that you can see he wanted to avoid talking to Shan’ann till the last moment, and at the last moment he didn’t talk to her, he murdered her.fullscreen capture 20181224 062911

Did Watts Switch Shan’ann’s Phone Cover at the last Second?

Today, while researching the timeline for DRILLING THROUGH DISCOVERY, the 5th TWO FACE book, I paid particular attention to the moment Shan’ann’s phone was found. The discovery was made by Nick Atkinson, but occurs [not surprisingly] off-camera when Coonrod is as far away from the loft area as he could possible be.

Nevertheless I wanted to review the moment. According to the Discovery Documents, when Coonrod enters the basement at 14:11, that’s also when Watts texts Shan’ann a staged message:

Where are you?

About two minutes later, after mounting two flights of stairs, Coonrod finds Watts in the loft area, alone but with Atkinson’s kid skulking around. Nickole, meanwhile, is downstairs.

At 14:12/13 they announce that Shan’ann’s phone has been found, which is a big deal to Nickole who is just coming up the stairs and starting to really panic. The phone is found shutdown, and has a green protective cover around it. Watts then pretends not to know the password to open up the phone.

The color of the phone surprised me because it appeared to be pink in other screengrabs. Did Watts secretly swap out the pink cover at the last second, because it may have been contaminated with DNA/blood/fibers? Or was the cover removed during Shan’ann’s final life and death tussle? Or did he simply remove the cover to wash it and never got round to replacing it? Or did he remove the cover so that if seen outside the house it may not have been immediately recognizable as her phone?

“This is really an embarrassment for…”

Prison Consultant Larry Levine describes Chris Watts as an embarrassment for the Colorado Department of Corrections. Do you think that’s accurate? Levine’s right, Watts is an embarrassment and an inconvenience, but I doubt it has anything to do with the inadequacy of the prison setup in Colorado.

It also doesn’t have much to do with keeping one of America’s most notorious inmates anonymous inside the prison. Are you telling me the same prison where Watts is, where Steven Avery is housed doesn’t know Steven Avery is there?

Elsewhere in the same interview Levine sounds as if he’s on track before he ends up saying something else:

The impact of this case has reached so far into the people of Colorado…[wait for it]…that they’re concerned about…their own staff members possibly assaulting him…

Was Watts’ safety the primary concern for his transfer, or were other concerns of primary concern?

For reference, Aurora mass shooter James Holmes is currently incarcerated at USP Allenwood in Pennsylvania.

First Image of the Trinastich Surveillance Camera

Officer Scott Coonrod turned his bodycam off when Detective Baumhover pulled up at 14:35, so the two could have a discreet tete-a-tete. Unfortunately, by the time Coonrod turned it back on he was already under the alcove and approaching the door of neighbor Nate Trinastich’s house.

This is why we don’t see the surveillance camera.

I did manage to catch this grab from the video below. The color of the face-brick and orientation looks about right. I asked the maker of the film directly if he zoomed in to get this image, and if he had the original image [perhaps less zoomed in] at which point he stopped communicating.

It could be that the area highlighted below, which shows a reflection of Coonrod as he approaches Trinastich’s front door, is the location of the surveillance video.

Detective Baumhover’s Supplemental Report on the Rzuceks [Discovery Documents Page 1432] [45th Tranche]

On 08/20/18, along with Michael Rourke and several DDA’s, I met with Frank and Frankie Rzucek at the Weld County District Attorney’s office. While briefly interviewing both Frank and Frankie I learned the following:
• Watts stated to Sandi that Shanann “was in one of her moods.”
• Nicole spoke with Sandi that morning and was concerned about Shanann and the girls’ whereabouts.
• Shanann’s phone and iWatch were never turned off and that she charged them on her night stand each night. [This is probably a reference to them habitually being left on, in contrast to them being found off ito of the crime scene].
• The girls’ Jack & Jill bathroom doors were typically locked at night to keep Bella and Celeste out of the bathroom.
• Sandi called Watts and left a voice message. She subsequently called him again to check on Shanann.
Watts was distant with Shanann’s family the one week he was in NC. This was the last week of six weeks Shanann and the girls were in NC visiting family.
• Frank stated Watts’ relationship with his mother is not as good as the relationship with his dad.
• Frank confirmed the conflict between Shanann and her mother-in-law (Cindy Watts) regarding Celeste’s peanut allergy.
• Frankie stated that Shanann “wore the pants” in the family.
• Frank said Watts was more stern and confrontational with Bella and Celeste while he was visiting in NC the last week of the six week trip.
• Frank installed the hotel style latch on the front door to prevent Celeste from opening the door.
• Frank also said a big blue blanket was typically on the couch. Note: this blanket has not been located to date.
• Frank confirmed the outside garage door opener key pad has never worked. Nothing further.

According to Trent Bolte, this was Watts’ favorite film…

According to Trent Bolte, he and Watts liked to watch Orange is the New Black together on Netflix. Piper Chapman, the main character in the series,  is based on the memoir of a real life bisexual woman.

Ironically, Watts finds himself [possibly] in a genuine Orange is the New Black situation right now. Talk about fact creating fiction creating fact.

Bolte also told CNN Watts’ favorite film is Weekend. Both gay characters in the film have more than a passing resemblance to Watts.
